Located at 72 West End, this casual yet inviting eatery offers a delightful array of dishes that cater to both adventurous foodies and those seeking comforting classics.
The star of their menu is undoubtedly their fragrant Fried Mee Goreng, a sensational stir-fried noodle dish bursting with rich, savory notes. Diners repeatedly rave about the Crispy Chicken Mee Goreng, where tender chicken coated in a perfectly crispy batter harmonizes beautifully with the smoky, slightly sweet sauce and al dente noodles. Another standout favorite is the Coconut Rice Braised Pork Belly, where the luscious richness of the pork melts effortlessly into the subtly sweet, creamy coconut rice — a dish that feels like a warm, flavorful hug with every bite.
Vegetarian guests will appreciate the lovingly prepared stir-fried seasonal vegetables, showcasing fresh produce cooked to just the right tenderness, allowing each ingredient's natural flavor to shine through. The Fried Coconut Rice across the menu is consistently praised for its delicate coconut aroma and fluffy texture, perfectly complementing the range of hearty meats and fresh seafood options available.
What truly enhances the dining experience at Street Eats Kaikoura is the genuine, friendly atmosphere. The space has a down-to-earth charm, though during colder months, be sure to check that the doors are closed for a cozy meal — a small tip shared by seasoned visitors. So tasty we had it twice! (On both nights in Kaikoura). Crispy Chicken Mee Goreng and Pork Coconut Rice were delicious. Just make sure they've got the door shut in winter as was a little cold to sit in

Came in here because we wanted a veggie fix. Loved the plate of stir fried seasonal veggies. The seafood rice noodles were a tad oily for us but that’s a personal preference. The taste was still overall superb and owner was friendly. Considering that it was a one-woman show, she was extremely efficient, very impressive!

Superb no nonsense cafe serving excellent noodles. We ordered mixed seafood and vegetable mee goreng plus some vegetable spring roll. All was cooked freshly to order, great flavours.

Tried a variety of dishes including the mee goreng pork, butter calamari, and NZ clam with vegetables. Food was really good especially the mee goreng pork, and seafood was fresh. A must try in kaikoura.

Crispy chicken and crayfish goreng were very good although crayfish was a little too dry or too cooked. Not sure if it supposed to be like this. Overall is great. Very good service.

We came on a saturday afternoon after seeing the raving reviews! Had a vegetarian fried coconut rice and shared some mee goreng with my companions. Fried rice had a nice subtle coconut flavour, and mee goreng was tasty, crispy chickens had an absolutely yummy batter.
